Gate Operators and DoorKing DKS Product Guides

Compare commercial gate operators, telephone entry, video intercom and lane barriers for properties across North and South Carolina. Designed, installed and supported by our own technicians from offices in Charlotte and Columbia.

A vehicle gate is a machine, and that changes what matters

Most of a security system sits still. A vehicle gate does not: it is the part in constant mechanical use, exposed to weather, and the part most likely to be running when it should not be. That makes duty cycle, safety sensing and serviceability the decisions that count, well ahead of features.

Under-rating the duty cycle is the most common and most expensive mistake in this category. An operator rated for a few dozen cycles a day will not survive a few hundred, and the failure shows up as a gate stuck open — which removes the security the gate was installed to provide.

Credentials, readers and platforms where the gate is one opening among many.

Video surveillance

Cameras at the gate line, including plate capture and the lighting that makes it work.

Choosing gate operators: what actually changes the specification

How the gate moves

Slide, swing, barrier and vertical pivot are different machines with different site requirements. The gate leaf and the available run decide this, not preference.

How often it cycles

An operator rated for a few dozen cycles a day will not survive a few hundred. Under-rating the duty cycle is the most common and most expensive mistake here.

Entrapment protection

Photo eyes, edges and the operator's own sensing are safety requirements. UL 325 and the relevant usage class are part of the specification, not an accessory.

What happens in a power cut

Battery backup, manual release and fail-safe behavior need deciding deliberately — particularly where the gate is the only vehicle exit.

Gate operator brands we install and service

Vehicle gates are the part of a security system most likely to be in daily mechanical use, so operator choice and safety compliance matter more here than anywhere else.

All product categories

DoorKing DKS gate operators and entry products

Prevent intrusions and keep visitor flow moving with DoorKing access control. DoorKing products include gate operators and telephone entry systems, together with account management software, smart locks and proximity readers.

DoorKing suits a wide range of facilities and communities. As a DoorKing authorized dealer we select, configure, install and integrate the equipment, and continue to maintain it over the life of the system.

DoorKing gate operators

Seamless gate operation is what keeps traffic moving without disruption. DoorKing operators scale from compact installations to demanding commercial sites, with corrosion-resistant construction, controlled start and stop speeds and obstruction detection that is tuned rather than assumed.

DoorKing telephone entry

Telephone entry gives two-way communication with visitors at the gate, so whoever answers can verify a caller before releasing access. DoorKing offers both standalone controllers and PC-managed systems, sized for anything from an apartment building to a maximum-security site, with Remote Account Manager software where central programming is wanted.

DoorKing video intercom integration

Where visual verification matters, third-party cameras can be integrated with DoorKing entry so an operator sees the caller as well as hearing them. Integration is usually the cheaper route than replacing a working entry system, and it avoids running two overlapping platforms.

DKS lane barrier

The DKS Lane Barrier Accessory System adds to the 1601 Barrier Gate Operator where a higher degree of vehicle traffic control is wanted without the cost of bollards, wedges or crash beams. It suits apartment communities, gated condominiums, car rental sites, parking lots and toll booths.

Official DoorKing DKS software, firmware and support

Use the manufacturer links below for current software, firmware, release notes, manuals and technical resources. 360 Mobile Vision links directly to official manufacturer portals and does not copy or host firmware files.

Before installing an update: verify the exact model, region, hardware revision, current version, required intermediate releases, licensing or support entitlement, backup and rollback plan, integrations and maintenance window. An incorrect firmware package or upgrade sequence can interrupt service, invalidate compatibility or prevent a downgrade. Coordinate updates for monitored, life-safety-adjacent or business-critical systems with the system administrator and an authorized specialist.

Some resources require a customer, dealer, certified-technician or active-support login. Cloud-managed products may update automatically and may not provide a public firmware file.

What we review before quoting

These are established on site first, because a number produced without them is a guess.

  • The gate itself: weight, length, condition and whether the existing hardware can carry an automated operator at all.
  • Traffic volume and pattern, which sets the duty cycle and therefore the operator class.
  • Power and conduit at the gate, plus loop and sensor positions.
  • How residents, staff, visitors and emergency services will each be given access, including any required override for responders.

Plan the next step

We survey the site, set out the options against what is already installed, and put the recommendation in writing. Offices in Charlotte, North Carolina and Columbia, South Carolina.
